Nutella, with its heavenly blend of hazelnuts and chocolate, has become a beloved ingredient in desserts around the world. Its rich and creamy nature makes it an ideal candidate for creating show-stopping treats that will impress even the most discerning dessert lovers.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup Nutella (or any hazelnut-chocolate spread)
- 3 large eggs, separated
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
- Fresh berries or a dollop of whipped cream, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the oven rack in the middle position.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the Nutella and egg yolks until smooth and well combined.
- In a separate bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add the granulated sugar while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the egg whites into the Nutella mixture using a spatula, taking care not to overmix and deflate the mixture.
- Sift the all-purpose flour and salt into the Nutella-egg white mixture. Fold it in gently until fully incorporated.
- Grease individual ramekins or oven-safe dishes with butter or cooking spray. Spoon the Nutella soufflé mixture into the prepared ramekins, filling them about three-quarters full.
- Place the filled ramekins on a baking sheet and transfer them to the preheated oven.
- Bake the soufflés for approximately 12-15 minutes, or until they have risen and set. The centers should be slightly jiggly.
- Carefully remove the ramekins from the oven using oven mitts. Let them cool for a couple of minutes.
- Just before serving, dust the tops of the soufflés with powdered sugar, using a fine-mesh sieve.
- Garnish with fresh berries or a dollop of whipped cream if desired.
